Alex Othman jr's SolidWorks Drawer Handle

Alex Othman jr's First Real Object Solidworks Project V1

Q: What object are you measuring?
Alex: The object is a “draw pull” from a drawer. Next we measured the object to then put it into SolidWorks and construct it.(answer)

Q: What is SolidWorks?

Alex: SolidWorks is this program that allows you to make 3d object in an app with the right measurements.(answer)

Q:How did you go from the object in your hand to putting it in SolidWorks?

Alex: We used a measurement tool that’s called dial caliper, which measures the different side of an object by inches, then we put it on a paper. (answer)
Q: sample of what’s possible in SolidWorks?
Alex: Things like making a lego car from different types and shapes of lego pieces. (answer)

‘Q: Dude that is so cool. Did you make the wheels turn?
Alex: Yes, you are able to make the wheels from the car move. (answer)

Q: What did you start off with?

Alex:first I made a SolidWorks sketch of how the object would look without the outside, then I extruded the object so it had the shape of the original object. Second I had to add holes on the bottom of the figure so I could add the screw holes(answer)

Q:How did you go from a sketch to a solid rod?

Alex: I used a feature called sweep which adds an outer layer to a 2d sketch of an object.(answer)

Q: What is a sweep?

Alex: Sweep is a feature in SolidWorks that adds an outer layer to a 2d sketch to make it look 3 dimensional. (answer)

Q: what if you have to put the bolt in there?

Alex: i used the website called mcmaster-carr which allows you to find a certain bolt or screw by counting the threads.

Q:What are threads?
@google
Alex: Threads are the lines that allow you to screw something into something else.
